Writing has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. I don’t know a girl who grew up in the 80’s and 90’s that didn’t have a journal, or didn’t pass folded notes to classmates and crushes in one of many origami shapes. The personal evolution of writing illuminated places in my mind and heart I didn’t know existed, piquing curiosities, asking questions that many likely ponder but few actually voice. I was always that kid who needed the security of having answers while exploring behind the scenes in attempt to understand more. So when someone asks me “Do you really want to know how the sausage is made?” don’t be shocked by an enthusiastic confirmation. Welcome to my mind.
“Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we will ever do.”
Brené Brown {Research Professor, Best Selling Author, My Spirit Animal}
Like many of you, life has provided ample opportunity to answer the call to courage. . . again. . . and again. . . and once more for good measure or for the kids in the back. Courage is a ever-accessible tool with which everyone one of us is already equipped. Notice I said ever-accessible and not easily-accessible. I think it’s fair to say that courage is often not the easy, first choice. Can it be? Yes, I believe it can! If you think of courage like you think of a muscle you can see that it takes practice and repetition to be strengthened. So we don’t automatically leap from the couch to the Olympics, or immediately dive into healing the most agonizing trauma we’ve experienced in our journey thus far. We go smaller. We go deeper. We go inward. And in that place we can discover who we are, why we are here, and what is ours to do.
” How you respond to the call to courage matters. Unlock your greatness one choice at a time.”
Jen Dickey
Today I am choosing courage by creating this blog. If you are reading this, I don’t know how you found me, but I hope this site and these words are a source for inspiration in choosing new thoughts, standing in our truths, and manifesting the life of our dreams.
So, beloved, what is calling for your courage today?
